    • Responsible for analyzing complex mortgage loan transactions to ensure loans conform with program guidelines
    • Perform in-depth reviews and analysis of mortgage loans
    • Ensure all loans are underwritten in accordance with all required compliance guidelines, as well as investor underwriting guidelines such as FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, etc.
    • Perform risk analysis and make decisions regarding deficiencies that may be identified during the loan review
    • Maintain knowledge of underwriting guidelines as well as internal policies and procedures
    • Detect and prevent mortgage fraud
    • Conduct internal testing with a focus on procedural efficiencies and conduct a full review of outsourced loans
    • Assist in the development of testing for specific business practices to ensure compliance


    • College degree preferred or commensurate work experience in the mortgage banking field
    • 7+ years of mortgage underwriting and/or quality control experience required
    • Working knowledge of investor guidelines such as FNMA, FHLMC, FHA and VA, USDA
    • Experience utilizing Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP) underwriting tools, as well as ability to manually underwrite loans and perform detailed income calculations on self-employed borrowers
    • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulatory guidelines and procedures
    • Ability to analyze risk as it relates to the investment of quality loans
    • Experience underwriting loans in all states
    • Ability to review documentation, perform analysis, validate and document potential risk
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Excel
