    The Security Architect’s role is to plan, coordinate and architect activities related to the integration of software programs, applications, and third-party solutions as required to meet security and business requirements of the organization. This individual is also responsible for developing and maintaining an IT Security architecture blueprint for the organization. This individual will oversee the design of security technology solutions including software under development by in-house teams and commercial-off-the-shelf software deployed in the organization. Proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of secuirty best practices are critical to successful performance in this role.


    Strategy & Planning

    • Develop and maintain an IT Security architecture blueprint for the organization
    • Ensure that the IT Security Blueprint is aligned with strategic business goals, the company’s overall strategic vision, IT Strategy, and other IT Blueprints
    • Present technology briefings to IT and business line management to help keep operational teams and delivery teams aware of industry changes and to the IT Security blueprint
    • Plan, execute, and manage the integration of new security technologies into existing systems and software throughout the enterprise
    • Help ensure that technology projects meet security requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements and identify and resolve systems issues
    • Conduct research into technology capabilities, industry trends and information security trends to assess opportunities to improve efficiencies and security in the IT environment
    • Build and maintain relationships with development, engineering, operations and Information Security teams to gain an understanding of information security architectures and required functionality
    • Build and maintain relationships with vendors of information security technology that is deployed in the organization’s IT environment. Learn about their capabilities and help determine if / how these fit into the IT environment. Proactively evaluate new versions to understand capabilities to drive our upgrade path
    • Develop and maintain technology standards and architecture patterns to support and facilitate the secure and efficient implementation and delivery of technology solutions

    Technology Acquisition & Deployment


    • Research and make recommendations on information security products and services in support of procurement, development and technology integration efforts
    • Lead the development of architecture overviews to assist with delivery efforts to estimate and integrate new technologies and technology changes into the IT environment
    • Align technology projects with corresponding strategies between business units, IT and Information Security
    • Collaborate with analysts, engineers, delivery teams and system owners in the design of new security technologies and upgrades to existing technologies
    • Lead efforts with analysts, engineers, delivery teams and system owners to resolve architecture and design issues related to the integration of information security technologies
    • Review vendor proposals and technology designs to assess the alignment with technology standards and IT Blueprints. Escalate design issues as needed with senior IT leadership and business sponsors and agree on mitigation approaches and action plans when architecture exceptions are needed on projects
    • Proactively recognize when architectural decisions have cross architectural impacts and work to identify best solution with other architects
    • Understand the IT processes and information needs of architecture, delivery and operations teams and demonstrate the ability to collaborate with IT teams and business teams to resolve design issues and develop technology solutions

    Operational Management

    • Proactively work to establish and maintain a knowledge base about information security technologies used in the IT environment
    • Serve as key subject matter expert in the field of information security technologies used in the IT environment
    • Support root cause analysis as-needed for production incidents related to the use of information security technologies
    • Conduct architecture assessments of existing production systems to make recommendations to improve stability, security, end-user experience and operational efficiency
    • Evaluate results of technology projects, then report and make recommendations and changes to IT Blueprints based on findings


    • Bachelor’s Degree required in a related Information Technology or Computer Science  discipline
    • 10+ years’ of related information security and/or cybersecurity experience
    • 5+ years’ Financial Services, Mortgage, and/or Banking experience required
    • 3+ years Architect role experience using frameworks and modeling
    • Membership of professional organizations preferred (e.g., NICCS, TOGAF)
    • Security qualifications preferred (CISSP, CISM, CEH)
    • Experience with Microsoft Azure
    • Sound data analysis, problem resolution, team building, judgment and decision making skills required
    • Sound knowledge of networking, application and information security
    • Ability to communicate highly technical and complex security concepts effectively across all levels of the organization (both IT and business)
