Responsibilities

  • Manage certain key aspects of Mortgage Finance Specialty Lending relationships, including but not limited to:
    • Work with Relationship Managers and Credit Policy Officers to assess credit opportunities, identify key risks, and structure alternatives
    • Manage loan renewal process including preparation of in-depth credit analysis of existing borrowers
    • Assist Credit Underwriting with complex existing credit requests and new prospective requests.
    • Attend necessary client and credit meetings
    • Proactively look for ways to expand customer relationships and/or improve overall profitability
    • Follow industry trends and changes in lending practices
  • Provide Relationship Manager support in working with attorneys and other advisers on negotiating, closing and funding transactions
  • Assist team in preparing ongoing portfolio reports and leading group projects for Executive, Credit and Underwriting teams 
  • Ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship is in compliance with established credit policies and procedures, and business strategies as well as regulatory guidelines

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years underwriting experience in a commercial bank; prior experience in underwriting Mortgage Banking-related companies preferred
  • Completion of a formal credit training program a plus
  • BBA in Accounting or Finance, or related degree 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of intermediate accounting and its practical application in the credit underwriting process
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to read and assess individual and company financial statements
  • Prior experience with syndicated transactions preferred
  • Proven problem recognition and resolution skills
  • Aptitude and interest in prospect development and building relationships with C-level executives
  • Effective communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational abilities
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully execute multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to build positive working relationships across the organization
  • Proficiency in the use of software tools for reports, audits, analysis and presentations
