    As a strategic partner, the HR Advisor/Generalist aligns business objectives with employees and management within designated business units. Serves as a consultant to management on all Human Resources related issues. Acts as an employee champion and change agent, by assessing and anticipating HR-related needs. Must maintain an effective, working business literacy regarding each area’s financial position, mid-range and long-term strategies, culture and industry competition.


    • Proactively consult with line management providing HR guidance, as appropriate.
    • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.
    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
    • Ensure that HR systems contain accurate and complete data for all employees within assigned business unit(s).   Works with HRIS resources to ensure HR management reports for assigned business unit(s) contain accurate and meaningful information.
    • Lead and/or assist with workplace investigations to timely resolve any employee concerns and mitigate risk.
    • Develop an in-depth understanding of the functions and job families within assigned business unit(s), including management challenges, compensation position relative to market, and career and talent progression, ways to increase organizational capabilities and talent bench strength.
    • Leads assigned populations through the critical process of:
      • analyzing employee survey results and determining action steps,
      • identifying bench strength and successors as part of talent review, then ensuring talent development and retention strategies are actively in place,
      • ensuring appropriate performance management strategies are in place and that compensation recommendations are aligned with performance.
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of all HR related requirements the company must follow to mitigate any legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance. Partner with internal and external legal counsel as well as compliance and internal audit departments frequently.
    • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, performance improvement plans, etc.).  
    • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
    • Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
    • Provide guidance and input on organization design, workforce planning, succession planning.
    • Perform exit interviews for departing employees, ensure managers complete termination checklists, identify any turnover trends/issues and build appropriate action plans to resolve.
    • Lead projects and initiatives, as appropriate, within or related to the HR function.
    • Maintains compliance with all federal and state regulations, and also follows internal compliance requirements.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred
    • At least 5 years of proven Human Resources experience, working directly with various levels of management within the organization.
    • Working knowledge across multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, talent management, employee engagement surveys, and federal and respective state employment laws.
    • Relevant financial industry experience is a plus, but not required.

    • Manage HR responsibilities for multiple business units in multiple locations.
    • Manage multiple conflicting priorities.
    • Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels.
    • Be self directed and motivated.
    • Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
    • Proficient in MS Office skills: primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
    • Knowledgeable in creating spreadsheets and reports from HR systems.
    • Understanding of HR Payroll, Benefits and Performance systems such as ADP and Cornerstone OnDemand.
