This position will provide expertise in eligibility, structuring, underwriting and documenting new credits.  Identify and analyze relevant information to assess credit risk and assist in preparation of credit approval memos with recommendations consistent with bank policy and the SBA’s Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Business Development Officers in collection of information needed to determine eligibility and appropriate loan structure.
  • Completion of in depth credit analysis and formal credit approval.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the assembly of the SBA Loan Origination Package Work with the SBA Loan Department to facilitate the closing of loan requests and handle credit-related issues as needed confirming appropriate approvals have been obtained.
  • Provide credit and SBA processing support as needed to evaluate and decision borrower servicing requests, loan modifications, and any payment performance issues, etc.
  • Monitor and manage the loan portfolio so as to minimize risk to the bank.
  • Perform annual reviews on existing SBA portfolio. 
  • Assist in preparation for SBA Audits. 
  • Maintain expertise in government guaranty loan programs including changes to relevant SBA Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Attend training as needed.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of credit underwriting with formal bank credit training preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years direct experience in SBA credit underwriting preferred.
  • Prior experience underwriting both 7a and 504 loan programs is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of the SBA’s Standard Operating Procedures as it relates to eligibility, structuring and originating SBA loans.
  • Real estate, construction, and cash flow underwriting experience desired.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment, manage multiple tasks concurrently and prioritize.
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal skills.
